Honesty is the best……………………….policy?

I did a workshop on Wednesday. A basic beadweaving workshop. Six students. In a library room. Did it go well? Nope. My reasons for it not going well included having to rush to set up - 15 mins - and rush to finish and clear up - 15 mins - so to be blunt, I was sweating like the proverbial before I’d even started! Another thing I discovered is that you can’t teach everyone in the class peyote in two hours, the boredom factor kicks in after an hour. The level ranged from a lady who was ready to put a clasp on after an hour to another who was still struggling to thread the needle - I don’t know how to get round this without using the ‘beginner/intermediate/advanced’ thing, which I don’t like. I also have a feeling that, although I stressed it was ‘beadweaving’, a few were disappointed there was no sparkly necklace at the end. In that way I felt a bit of a fraud. I have another ‘basic’ class next Saturday, three hours this time, so it’s time to get back on the horse, figure out where I went wrong, and teach some people how to ‘beadweave’!
